The Parkitect was a staple of the freestyle
lineup for Burton
Snowboards, and BMD
Design contributed to its visual identity over two consecutive
seasons. Working alongside JDK Design, the studio developed the
artwork for these specific graphic deck snowboard models — a limited
edition series defined by screen-printing aesthetics and a raw,
illustrated approach. This project was about delivering a distinct
look for each edition, ensuring the boards stood out in the park while
remaining consistent with the brand's technical heritage. These
collaborations showcase how specific graphic treatments are integrated
into the production of high-performance Burton snowboards.
The creative approach for these snowboard decks centered on custom
typography and hand-drawn iconography. The first model features a
textured olive green base with skull illustrations and traditional
lettering, while the second season explores a deeper blue palette with
esoteric symbols and high-contrast motifs. For every graphic deck
snowboard produced in this series, the focus remained on composition
and visual balance, ensuring a bold impact on the snow. This work for
Burton
Snowboards represents a professional contribution to the visual
history of one of the industry's most iconic freestyle models.
